Why a PPP Model?
LARGE MIGRANT POPULATION IN WHITEFIELD AREA
Migrants from Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, UP, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Nepal. Mostly rag pickers & construction workers. Their local language is not Kannada. They do not see the value of Kannada medium education.

THE DILEMMA OF A MIGRANT CHILD
The child enters a Govt school classroom where nobody understands her. The teachers are stretched managing large numbers of children in their classrooms and . They are unable to provide the time and attention to help such children. The child drops out.

LOCALS ALSO ASPIRE FOR AN ENGLISH MEDIUM EDUCATION
Parents with annual income as low as Rs 2 lacs pa put their children to low cost private schools. Over a period it is just not sustainable and students drop out. Further, quality of teaching- learning is very poor in may of these schools and parents are not discerning enough to understand until it is too late.

ENGLISH MEDIUM CLASSROOMS IN GOVT SCHOOLS
Few Government schools where English medium is offered, are hugely crowded and lack sufficient teachers for these English medium sections. While teachers are being trained on English language, currently there isn't enough expertise to cater to the demand.

THE GOVT HIGH SCHOOL STORY
Most Govt High Schools in the area record pass percentage around 50 to 60% in the SSLC exams, which is lower than the state average. Packed classrooms, inadequate teachers, poor FLN skills, low student motivation - all lead to this situation.

THE PPP MODEL
Government appoints teachers for Kannada medium sections and the School Head Master/Mistress.
Highly qualified full time teachers in English medium sections are appointed by Inventure Academy and supported by Teach for India fellows.
Whitefield Ready provides Program Management and volunteering support for both Kannada & English medium sections.
RBITC helps with infrastructure & maintenance of school premises.

THE FUNDING
Government funds only teacher salaries for Govt appointed teachers. The partners fund the staff appointed by them as also all the additional Teaching Learning materials provided in classrooms and costs associated with extra curricular activities for all students. (Inventure Academy has invested around Rs 1.2 crore for Academic Year 2022-23.) This model offers completely free education for every single child in this school.
